Damp Proofing

Rising damp occurs when masonry walls in buildings absorb damp from the ground up. The technical term for this is ‘capillary action’. Because the walls are built on earth, they absorb damp from the ground up. In order to eradicate this problem it is necessary to install a damp proof course. Apex offers significant expertise in damp proofing. Several methods are available, the most common of which is the chemical injection method, which is the most suitable for brickwork.

Once the installation of a damp proof course has been completed, the contaminated plaster work must be removed. At Apex, we are able to employ methods to restore plasterwork to its original condition.

Tanking Systems

In some properties, high ground levels outside can create damp penetration, causing high moisture levels inside the property. At Apex, we are able to solve this problem with a fixed membrane tanking system. This membrane is fitted directly onto existing surfaces, causing little upheaval. It is highly durable and has a long life.

Cavity Wall-Ties

Do your walls have horizontal cracks along the brickwork? This occurs when a rusting cavity wall-tie expands, forcing the bricks apart at the mortar joint. Generally, galvanised cavity wall-ties last for approximately 70 years. After this time, ties can begin to be affected by oxidisation, losing strength and becoming defective. Apex provides cavity wall inspections with the usage of high-tech borescope equipment. If our inspection determines that your walls are being corroded, it is necessary to install replacement wall-ties.

Wood Boring Insects

Apex is a specialist in eradicating wood boring insects. Woodworm, furniture beetles and other insects can cause serious structural damage to your home. We are able to apply insecticides and rectify the damage caused to your wood in the majority of cases.
