Window Measurements and fitting instructions

Providing your own measurements

Examples of how to measure are provided on the website, these must be followed accordingly.

We cannot accept any responsibility or liability for any orders placed that you have supplied the measurements for.

Inside recess

An inside recess blind fits within the recess were the window frame is fitted. On inside recess fitted blinds specific deductions are taken by the factory for operating clearance so you only need to give us the measurements of the opening (recess size) we will make the necessary deductions during the manufacturing process.

Outside recess

An outside recess blind overlaps the window opening. No deductions are made from the sizes you supply on this type of fitting. This is because you will need to supply us the exact measurements that you would like the window blind to be. This includes adding extra for the width and the height to clear any trim etc if you so wish.

Fitting Instructions

All blinds supplied by A-Z Blinds will come complete with brackets so you can fix them as appropriate to your order. Any blinds fitted by us will be fitted to the window frames where possible unless otherwise stated. Although every care will be taken during installation we cannot accept any responsibility or liability for any damage to any windows, décor etc that may occur during the installation process.

Colour accuracies, back lighting and swatch variations

Colour Accuracy

Although the utmost care has been taken to ensure that the colours printed on our web site are accurate, actual colours will vary. In addition, subtle colour differences and textures may not be fully appreciated on some systems due to differences in computer monitors. As our products are all made to measure, and can't be returned, you need to be sure that any colour variations that are possible from our scanning of the actual samples are acceptable to you. If an exact colour match is required, then please request a sample before placing your order. Once you receive your sample, keep in mind that all samples may still have minimal dye lot colour variations as stated by the manufacturers.

All timber products will vary in colour due to the natural grains inherent in the timber. It is therefore important to order all blinds in the same room at the same time to ensure that all blinds are manufactured from the same batch of timber. Please note all sunwood blinds are natural products and therefore variations in shade, graining and warping may occur.

Fabric Back Lighting

"Back lighting" happens when light filters in through certain fabrics from behind. Our swatches don't show you the effect of back lighting, which can soften colours and highlight fabric textures.

Swatch and sample fabrics

Although every effort is made to ensure that swatches are as accurate as possible, we cannot be held responsible for any variations in colour or textures of sample products.

Privacy

We respect your privacy. All personal information you provide to us WILL remain absolutely confidential and only be used solely to communicate better with you. We have never and will never share your information with anyone else.

Payment Options

Since all blinds from A-Z Blinds are custom made to your specifications, all orders are paid for when your order is placed. Visa and MasterCard are accepted online. Bank cheques, personal cheques and money orders must be mailed to our office or paid in person to the sales representative before your order is processed. All orders paid by cheque will not be processed for 5-7 days to allow time for your cheque to clear.

Changes, Cancellations and Refunds

Due to all our products being made to measure unfortunately we cannot accept any changes or cancellations once the order has been taken. Therefore, please carefully check your order before placing it.

If you find that you have made an error in your order or you wish to cancel it you may contact us within 24 hours on 0800 074 0911 between 9am -5.30pm Monday to Saturday to see if we can stop the order being processed. After this time your order would have definitely been started and we cannot change or cancel it once manufacturing has commenced. All cancelled orders within the 24-hour period will be charged for at a rate of 20% of the total order value, if cancellation has been possible, for re-stocking charge.

A-Z Blinds reserves the right to cancel your order if:

  • Your payment was declined by your Financial Institution.
  • We cannot complete your order due to either a product being discontinued or temporarily out of stock. In either instance we would contact you to offer a suitable replacement.
  • You require delivery outside the United Kingdom.
  • There has been a website malfunction, or a price listed incorrectly due to a typographical error on the website.

If A-Z Blinds do cancel your order we will re-credit your credit card immediately and notify you via email that this has been done. A-Z Blinds will not be held responsible or liable for any compensation due to the cancellation of any order.

Discontinued and/or Back Ordered Items

A-Z Blinds has no control over products that are discontinued or placed on backorder by the various manufacturers. A-Z Blinds will make every effort to remove discontinued items as soon as we are made aware of them and will notify you whenever we receive notice of any items placed on backorder.

Deliveries

Delivery

Delivery times are given as estimates only based on normal production times. Production times also vary from product to product. Orders comprising of different window furnishing products will be shipped as each product is completed. Estimated delivery times are based on working days and exclude weekends, public holidays and factory shutdowns. If you have a particular deadline please notify us at the time of placing your order and we will do our utmost to meet your deadline. A-Z Blinds cannot be held responsible for shipping delays beyond our control.

Approximate delivery time for all blinds is usually 2-3 weeks. There may be on certain occasions that this time may be reduced please ask when ordering.

Delivery charges are payable on all Internet orders and subject to location. We will endeavour to deliver within 21 days of order but this is dependent on product and time to deliver to your home. Should you not be home when the courier calls, a calling card will be left with a phone number for you to call to arrange a suitable delivery time where possible or to arrange collection from our courier.

Delivery and Inspection of Merchandise

IMPORTANT: Inspect your merchandise as soon as you receive it and notify us in writing immediately if the merchandise has been damaged in shipment. If the packaging appears damaged please indicate this on the consignment note that you sign on receipt of the goods. Inspect the goods to make sure that the products you ordered were made exactly as you specified when you ordered them. If you notify us that the merchandise has been damaged in shipment or was made incorrectly within 7 days of the date that the merchandise is delivered to you, we will have the damaged blinds either repaired or replaced at no cost to you. If you do not notify us that the merchandise has been damaged in transit during this 7-day period, we will not be held responsible for the repair or replacement of the damaged merchandise.

Child Safety Legislation

If required we can also supply you with various, suitable cord and chain cleats.

12 Month Warranty

All custom-made Blinds are covered by a 12-month Warranty. We guarantee that all blinds supplied by A-Z Blinds will be free of defects and workmanship for that period of time. In the event of any defects, repairs or replacement will be provided.

Warranties do not cover:

  • Incorrect installation
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Misuse or abuse of products
  • Exposure to the elements
  • Commercial installations

All materials can deteriorate after long periods of exposure to sunlight. Plastics can become brittle and crack, cords will wear out and certain fabrics and other materials may be affected. These are things that are considered normal wear and tear and are not covered by the above warranty. If our products are found to be defective during the warranty period we will repair or replace the defective product.

Warranties with respect to the blinds you are purchasing from A-Z Blinds are provided to you directly by the manufacturer of these products, unless manufactured by us, and are incorporated into your order. If a specific warranty applies to the blinds you are ordering, they will have a 'Care and Warranty' section or link on the product's information page. A-Z Blinds itself disclaims any warranty and/or implied warranty of merchantability of fitness for a particular purpose with regard to the goods you are purchasing.

Special warranties apply to certain makes of blinds and some blinds over a certain size please ask before ordering.

These terms and conditions are intended to clarify the purchase between the customer and A-Z Blinds and they do not affect the customer’s statutory rights. If the customer is in any doubt about the purchase or anything contained in these terms and conditions they should consult with the supplier or take the necessary legal advice.
